Saving the planet

We all want to save the planet, don’t we? There is a really easy way to save the planet and that is in the reduction of the numbers of letters that are sent out. Can you imagine the millions of letters that, for example, HMRC send out on a daily basis. Just imagine the number of trees that are cut down to sustain that need. Hundreds, if not thousands of trees.

As I see it, the basis of sending letters in the modern era, is that letters are absolute evidence, whereas emails are not. If we want to change, a bill needs to be put forward to state that in the eyes of the law, emails are just as valid as letters.

The argument will be that the Royal Mail will be disadvantaged but they are processing more parcels than ever before and so are making the same amount of money, if not more and will compensate for the loss of business from letters.

It is an easy solution to start to reduce the use of paper. After all, the trees are the lungs of the planet
