The national insurance increase (updated)

It really does not matter what you call it, it is a tax increase. But will pumping billions more into the NHS actually do anything about the waiting lists; I think not.

The limiting factors are the numbers of surgeons, doctors and nurses; you cannot increase these numbers overnight. Neither can you build new hospitals overnight either; they take years to build

So, where is the money actually going to go to? It will be going into the government coffers with maybe a fraction going into the very wasteful NHS.

What the government REALLY need to do is to cut the massive waste in the NHS. Although it would not achieve any income, where have the huge stores of PPE gone? They are just sitting there, when they should be going to the countries that need it.

More to the point, the tax increase will be hitting those people who need to be taxed the less; they are struggling enough as it is. Those on big incomes will just see it as a minor expense; it will not affect their lifestyles a jot but IT WILL affect the lower income earners; all of them
