The Taliban

I cannot believe that I am actually writing this.

The bare fact is that the Taliban now rule Afghanistan. We can “do business” with them.

Their sworn enemy is ISIS and ISIS K, who are far more brutal than the Taliban itself. They are far more dangerous than the Taliban.

If we have an “association” with them to help them beat ISIS K, then we can ensure that there are no terrorist threats in the West. If we have an association, we can hopefully “temper” their attitudes, particularly towards women. It is said that you keep your friends close but your enemies closer still.

This “association” could also ensure that we can establish a safe zone in Afghanistan, to which those who have helped the US and UK forces can go and be airlifted out.

They will also need help to run their country; we have the experience, which is more leverage so that they treat the population much better.

We cannot be blinkered and we have to be pragmatic; we can “help” the Taliban whilst also helping the Afghan people
