This shortage is affecting every company and especially the supermarkets. I was have a quick chat with one of my many food delivery drivers and he said that Morrisons were offering for food delivery drivers to be transferred to HGV driving, so that they could make up on the shortage.
What he then said surprised me. He said that he and his colleagues worked out what they would earn and very surprisingly said that they would earn less as an HGV driver than as a food delivery driver; it should be the other way around.
That goes to show that these companies are just after profit and are not willing to invest in what is a very serious situation
