To current and prospective clients of Berwin Leighton Paisner and/or Paicolex Trust Management AG (UPDATED)

My advice to you is to move elsewhere; they cannot be trusted.

The only way that I can illustrate this is from my own experience. My father, in a philanthropic gesture, set up a trust for my brother and I, our children and their children; it is a perpetual trust.

Everything was well for a very long time and then my father contracted Alzheimer’s. Sadly, his attitude towards me drastically changed but not to my brother

I told the “powers at be” at these organisations that my father had Alzheimer’s and that his behaviour and attitude towards me had changed. I advised them to cease to take instructions from him, as he was the self appointed “UK representative” of the trust.

They did not listen and did absolutely nothing. Even the chairman of Paicolex, Andrew Lugg, said to me in an email “I see no reason to remove your father as UK representative, just because he suffers from Alzheimer’s“.

How wrong he was and, as owners of Paicolex, the partners at Berwin Leighton Paisner were wrong too, very wrong.

To cut a very long story short, the behaviour of Paicolex and Berwin Leighton Paisner became so bad that I wanted to kill myself and ended up at The Priory, costing me £6,500 a week. If you want to know the long story, this blog is littered with articles about what my father has done to me, whether directly or indirectly, through either my very own daughter, her mother or the combination of Berwin Leighton and Paicolex. DO YOU WANT THAT FOR YOUR CHILD OR CHILDREN?

If YOU are considering setting up a trust for your children, that is all well and good.

But, what if, later in life, you contract dementia and your attitude to one or both of your children changes for the worse?

You love your children, I am sure but what if, when you contract this awful disease, your attitude to one or both of your children changes and you hurt them, so badly that they end up doing what I wanted to do, take their own lives?

You would not want that for your children, would you? Of course not.

But when you get older, what if this happens to you, your attitude to one or both of your children changes and one or both get hurt. I am sure that the children who have been hurt would then complain to Berwin Leighton and Paicolex.

But, as in my case, they would do nothing. They would put the desire for profit BEFORE the welfare of one or both of your children. How would you feel about that?

That is why I am saying that you must go elsewhere, whether you are currently clients of Berwin Leighton Paisner and Paicolex Trust Management AG or are thinking of becoming one. These two organisations are not to be trusted, which is ironic considering that one of the entities is a trustee.

If in the UK, the people you will generally meet are these:

Ron Downhill.

He was a partner, retired and came back as a consultant. I am sure that was due to his age/retirement plans etc and nothing to do with the constant battle that I have waged with him and Berwin Leighton Paisner

A very clever man indeed and there is nothing that he does not know about tax and trusts. But he did nothing. I have known him for years

Andrew Lugg

He is group CEO of the Paicolex group and it was he who said those immortal words that my father’s Alzheimer’s did not matter.

Clare Edwards

She is currently a trust officer at Paicolex. I say “currently” because I have called for her to be sacked for gross misconduct, as she carried out my father’s instructions to the letter, to hurt me.

Your choice, of course, but if you want to effectively protect your children from something that you cannot even imagine at this moment in time, then move or consider other firms.
