I have just watched, for the third time, the final episode of Harrow, a superb Australian drama, lead by a great British actor, who plays Harrow.
Harrow’s daughter is played by Ella Newton, who not only reminds me so much of my daughter but is also a tremendously talented young actress, as I hope my daughter to be as a lawyer; her portrayal of Fern in Harrow certainly proves that. I just hope that she will be selective in which roles she accepts and does not fall into the trough of playing in trashy and poorly written dramas.
All of our young people need encouragement and I have just emailed her agent, asking for their bank details, in order to send just a gesture to say thank you and well done.
I will never ever meet Miss Newton or communicate with her, but I feel that our young people need so much encouragement these days; it is a far more complicated and money orientated world than it was when I was her age. I have suggested to her agent that Miss Newton should be selective of the roles that she accepts, as that can determine the success of an actress or actor. Whether that is passed on is anyone’s guess.
As for Verity, she has not done wrong; she just needs to find where she needs to be.
