Call me a doom mounger but I do not care.
In the film, solar flares from the sun heated up the earth’s core and completely destablised the earth and it was doomed. The only way to survive was that when the governments found out about it, they built massive ships to keep roughly 1/2 million people safe.
Most of the people designated to go on these ships were very rich people and, of course, governments.
This is not science fantasy; it could happen this way or even a massive asteroid could come hurtling towards the earth.
Who would build these ships? Who would build massive shelters for the favoured few. That’s right, ordinary people, like you and me.
All the governments would do is to spend massive amounts of tax payers money to protect themselves and what would be their justification for them getting a “ticket”. The justification would be that there needs to be forms of government after the crisis has passed.
Who would go? The President of the US, the Prime Minister of the UK, all heads of state, the royal family and so on.
Even though most of these governments believe in god and should therefore allow their fate to be “judged by god”, I know that most will just go for the “rich and powerful” option and will use their influence to secure their safety
What utter crap. There would be nothing left to govern.
For all I and you know, a crisis may indeed be happening and because of government secrets, we would not know a damn thing about it. BUT THEY WOULD
Sadly, most people these days are just interested in greed and are more worried about their navels and their bank balance than what is happening in this world.
When a world crisis of such proportions is going to happen, it does not matter a jot as to who has how much. If the world, as we know it, is going to end, let every country go into debt. Here is a novel idea; why dont we ensure that all countries work together when such a crisis is facing us. Money will mean nothing at all and everyone would have an equal right to go into a shelter or onto a boat or whatever.
But, sadly, that will not happen. Even if every country worked together, they would always be the select few who would ensure their safety; those with power, money and influence, heads of state and of course governments.
This is the world today my friends. A world where everyone just thinks about themselves and no one else.
Yes, it may be science fiction but we live on a ball in a massive universe, where all sorts of stuff hits the earth every single day. Most of it is destroyed by the layers that protect the earth but one day, maybe, there will be something so enormous that the earth will not be protected.
It happened to the dinosaurs and it will happen again; it is only a question of when, not if.
And it is the ordinary people who pay all of their taxes, work hard and keep their heads down who will be affected the most and it will be the favoured few who will have another chance of survival.
Just think about that, very hard
Call me naive but we should all take far better care of each other and not just think about ourselves all of the time
Billions of people would be lost by such a catastrophe either way but we should give everyone, wherever possible, an equal chance of survival
WHAT WOULD MY FATHER DO, WITH ALL OF HIS WEALTH ALTHOUGH HE IS VERY OLD AND SUFFERING FROM ALZHEIMER’S? HE WOULD SAVE HIMSELF OVER OTHER MORE HEALTHY AND DESERVING PEOPLE
Hollywood made this to be just a disaster film but the film is actually far more than that if you think deep enough and open your mind to not only what is just in front of your face but what is in the world around you.
The moment that we stop thinking about others is the moment that humanity stops
