Murdoch Mysteries – Got and Gotten

It is no secret that I dislike most things about what they do over the pond, especially the yanks and their accents that infect our television, particularly those from New York.

The Yanks have this habit of using the word “gotten” whereas it should be “got” and this has infected Canada too (Pants versus trousers being another example)

But Murdoch Mysteries is set in the early 1900s and I do not believe that they would use the word “gotten” but the writers are so lazy, they cannot be bothered to write it as proper English.

Actors will speak what is written, whatever is written and so the writers should take far more care; after all, the series is licensed to many countries in the world and that is where they make a great deal of money.

The scenery and costumes are pretty spot on but the language used is sadly far from perfect
