In Murdoch in Ragtime, there is just one of so many examples of gender bias.

Where a woman has killed her husband, it has always been self defence or has been put in an asylum.

In this episode, Buddy defended himself against the husband of the woman with whom he was having an affair and killed the husband out of self defence.

It moved onto Toronto when Nathan, the head of the band, was accidentally killed by his fellow band member Ozzy Hughes, because of a disagreement that went wrong and Nathan was killed.

Yes, Ozzy disposed of the body and that was wrong and, of course, the wife of Nathan refused to forgive Ozzy for what he did, even though it was an accident.

It was recognised that the incident with Buddy and the the husband that he killed was self defence but it was not accepted that the death of Nathan was anything other than murder.

I could write a book on all of this. In fact, I think I will, by first writing it on a special site page of this blog.

If I do not do something, then no one will.
