Murdoch Mysteries and the demeaning of men

Before I start, I have to say that after writing that post about the Heart Guy and sacrifice

I was so very upset that i got drunk at 8ish in the morning, and went back to bed for 4 hours, something that I have never done before and will never do again. I do not get drunk anymore. When I was happy, I rarely drank during the day but so much has changed now, all thanks to my family.

Anyway, to the point of this post.

I know that Murdoch Mysteries is supposed to be lighthearted but I have to take exception yet again and this time Henry Higgins.

Higgins is always acting as a fool, a clear example being ” A weekend at Murdoch’s”. Not only have they put across the idea that men are drunks and wife abusers but that some are fools too.

You will never seen in Murdoch Mysteries any woman being treated as a complete fool (other than Miss Newsom), being drunk or even abusing their husbands; it would just never happen.

It just goes to show how female gender biased Murdoch Mysteries is.

And as to their constant reference to Canada just being part of North America is just cowtowing to the yanks so that they can sell more airtime.

I have never made a secret of the fact that I despise the yanks and what the US stands for but in many episodes, both before and after this one, they have always been proud of their Canadian heritage.

For people whose geography is poor, there is South America, North America and Canada and never the twain shall they meet.
