Survival of the fittest

Some may argue that all of this corruption is just as nature does, survival of the fittest.

A stronger animal will kill a weaker one. That is sad but true but is nature and we have to accept it for what it is; I do.

But when it comes to humankind, it is a completely different kettle of fish. We are a highly evolved species and we have gone beyond that, save in wartime, which ultimately comes down to greed, power and influence.

As humankind has evolved, we should be going beyond the idea of survival of the fittest and go beyond that premise. We should always be kind and compassionate to each other and not just think about the bottom line or, if an individual, what can get by legal or illegal means.

It is not being naive; it is all to do with what is right otherwise we are actually worse than the animals, which we think we are superior to.

If we carry on the way that we are, we are actually worse than the amoeba from which we were eventually created, over millions of years.

Many people, including my family, circumvent this by not having a conscience at all and that is why corruption and dishonesty breeds like a pernicious virus, totally out of control.

These people do not care about anything; they do not even care about the safety of their own children. They may exhalt platitudes but they only say those things for show and do not really mean it; their actions speak far louder than the words they utter in their own defence.

My daughter, Verity, said that she “wanted to make a difference” by going into family law. Before she does that, she should look at her own actions and what she has done before trying to change the world, no matter how altruistic that may sound.
